spd - Moving items

Windows, and all window objects except menu items, can be dragged to a new position using the mouse. The cursor, which changes to a large black cross during this operation, may not be moved outside the object’s parent window. A control may be moved so that it extends beyond the parent window provided that some part of it remains within the window.

The currently selected item can be moved a precise number of pixels, as follows:

cursor key

moves the item one pixel

CTRL + cursor key

moves the item ten pixels

If character positioning is being used, the item is moved one or ten characters. The Options->Positioning menu item can be used to change a program to pixel positioning from within the program designer. See Pixel and character positioning.

If a tab control window is to be moved, it may be necessary to close the child windows first. A tab control child window cannot be moved by clicking on the top edge or anywhere in the tab area, since this action operates the tab control, showing the window.

If multiple items are selected, moving any one of them causes all the others to move as well. See Multiple item selection.

The position of an object may also be changed by editing its co-ordinates in the edit or property window.

Menu items may only be moved by means of the Menu editor.
